A Shift to Healing

I struggle to write this essay, at least to find the words that people would read.  I know there is value here, however we are so traumatized that I ponder whether the collective wisdom of our humanity has the bandwidth to take it in.  It has become much more difficult to parse out the truth from mere speculation or just plain misrepresentation.  That is not meant to be disparaging, I am acknowledging how tired and overwhelmed we are.

This has been such a difficult time for all of us.  I mostly find myself navigating the dichotomy of two consistent realms, one is the place where I feel calm, serene, and grateful to be sequestered so that I can be more contemplative about life and current circumstances.  The other place is one of grief, anger, and powerlessness over so many of the issues brought to light by this pandemic.  While we suffer the anxiety of this in our own individual ways, I find comfort knowing I am not alone and that we are all going through this together.  Collectively, we are suffering the loss and letting go of the world as we knew it and now have to figure out how to go forward.  Perhaps this is a good thing after all.  Both my heart and soul want to help but part of my struggle is where to begin.

I figured I would start with some observations that may or may not be obvious.  This pandemic is uncovering deeply personal struggles and bringing to the surface certain patterns, behaviors, and relationship dynamics both old and new. This in turn triggers interpersonal responses that are painful and uncomfortable to look at.  To make it feel worse, all of this is amplified and even accelerated as it is all happening simultaneously.  If you are wondering why you feel sensitive to the words or actions of others when perhaps it never bothered you before, that’s partly why.  You may feel hopeless and want to curl up in bed, or conversely you think that by being hyper vigilant and tackling every project you previously put off will make this time feel more productive.  Neither response is inappropriate as everything just feels…off.  As our current belief system is in an uproar, our psyche feels attacked and our attachment to all things comes into question.  What happens now?

We need to make a shift, a pivot into the next action that brings balance and harmony back to our lives and our progeny.  Still I question as most of us do how long this imbalance in our personal lives has actually been there.  Far longer than the coronavirus I’m sure.  So herein lies an opportunity to shift into healing, which is simply a different experience of ourselves, a better one.  This demands that we adapt to new ways which are scary and perhaps we don’t feel ready for it.  However, the old ways don’t serve us anymore either.  Hence, we are compelled to lean into our fear of the unknown and move forward with lessons from the past.

It’s okay, we were born for this.  When we came into this life we had to learn how to survive from the beginning.  Without any consultation we somehow figured out how to breathe, how to eat, how to touch things, eventually how to communicate verbally, and how to walk.  As new beings we already possessed the skills to adapt to our environment which was newly unfolding before us with each moment.  We found our way without the maturity of mind to ask questions.  There was no discrimination, it was how all of us survived and how we are here.

So here we are again with the opportunity to sink more deeply into what is our own wisdom, our intuition, our divine presence, our wholeness.  The physical body is already well equipped for self-healing.  Think of all the times you had a cough, a cold, a bruise or a pain that resolved by itself.  Imagine including your mind and spirit, using all parts of yourself together to bring comfort and healing.  For years I have devoted my life to this concept, helping others navigate the confines of the human condition through physical, emotional, or spiritual discord.  The foundation of all my work relies on the intention of seeing a person in one’s wholeness rather than the parts of the person that are sick or in discord.  When mindfulness with intention is invited into a treatment in this way, an energy is created which can bring insightful shifts to the person who is seeking healing.  Depending on the issue being treated, people often feel less pain and anxiety, while also describing a feeling of lightness and a sense of calm.

Energy by its nature wants to expand, the more people there are the more energy there is.  Now imagine the energy created among a group of people who come together with the same intention for healing.  That thought form comes with the potential to harness and create a very potent healing on many levels for many people.  This is where I want to be, and this is where I can help.  I am launching a new platform called World Wholeness Healing, a group healing led with guided meditation.  It will occur every other Sunday evening as a way for us to find healing and comfort in this very crucial time of our lives.  We will build on self-healing with the intention of expanding our awareness out to the group and to the world at large.  Thus, it becomes a way for all of us to help ourselves and also to help each other wherever we may be.  I wish for this to be the new normal, for this to be a way to remember our wholeness, not just as individuals but as people connected to all things.

I am a licensed acupuncturist, ordained minister, and board-certified in Chinese medicine. The foundation of my work relies on my years of studying the healing arts / philosophies of Sufism, Daoism, and Buddhism. I incorporate various modalities such as acupuncture, integrative energy medicine, and contemplative counseling into personally customized treatments for everyone. No one person and no one treatment is the same. I treat all demographics, all ages, and all disorders of the human condition.

I believe in community-building actions, forward and positive thinking, helping each other, spreading love and joy, creating events and forums for networking, sharing the wealth, and optimizing our health as humans and animals on one planet.
